The RHINO football event is a friendly morning kickabout in Tay Ho, and members, coaches and their friends are all invited. It is not a tournament. The point is to get everyone on the same field for a couple of hours, have a proper run around, and meet the people you normally only nod at between rounds.
You do not need to be good at football. We are splitting everyone into random mixed teams with both men and women in each side, so ability evens out and nobody gets stuck on the bench. Come on your own or bring a friend, both work.
What the RHINO Football Event Morning Looks Like
The whole thing runs before the day heats up, which in Hanoi is the only sensible time to play.

More Than Football: A Muay Thai Gym Event in Hanoi
Alongside the football there is a Muay Thai performance and time set aside to actually talk to people. As a Muay Thai gym event Hanoi members can bring guests to, it works in both directions: regulars meet training partners outside the gym for once, and newcomers get to see what the place is like without booking a class first.

Who It Is For
Anyone in the RHINO orbit. Members across every programme, Combat Fit through to Traditional Muay Thai, the coaching team, and friends or partners who have never set foot in the gym.
Two things worth saying plainly. First, mixed teams are drawn at random on the morning, so you will probably end up playing with people you have not met. That is deliberate. Second, nobody is scouting. If your first touch is bad, you are in good company.

Where to Go: Football in Tay Ho, Hanoi
Aladdin Football Field — at the end of Alley 264 Au Co, Tay Ho, Hanoi.
If you have looked for a pitch to play football Tay Ho Hanoi side before, you may already know it. It is a few minutes from both RHINO branches, so if you know the Quang An and Tay Ho backstreets you will find it easily. The alley is narrow and the entrance is right at the end, past the houses. Give yourself a few extra minutes if it is your first time, and arrive inside the 06:30 to 07:00 window so team draws are not held up.

How to Register for the RHINO Football Event
Register in advance. This is not gatekeeping, it is arithmetic: the team draw needs a headcount the night before, and turning up unregistered means someone has to redo the sides on the spot.
Register for RHINO Football Day
Sign up in advance so Team RHINO can balance the teams. Bring a friend if you like, just add them when you register.
What to Bring
Sports kit and water. Football boots if you own them, trainers are fine if you do not — it is a friendly match on a rented pitch, not a league fixture.
Questions People Have Asked
Do I need to be good at football?
No. Teams are drawn at random and mixed by gender, so every side ends up with a spread of ability. Plenty of people coming have not played since school.
Can I bring someone who is not a member?
Yes. Friends and partners are welcome whether or not they train at RHINO. Add them when you register so the headcount is right.
What if I registered but cannot make it?
Let us know through the contact page so the teams can be rebalanced. No penalty, we would just rather know.
Will there be Muay Thai as well?
Yes, there is a Muay Thai performance on the schedule alongside the football, plus time to talk to coaches and other members.
Is this a regular thing?
The RHINO football event is a one-off for now. If enough people turn up and enjoy it, we will run another.

New to the gym and reading this because a friend sent it over? Have a look at what we run and how the gym works. Turning up to the football first is a perfectly good way to start.
