Most gyms in this city will not tell you what training costs until you walk in. That makes comparing Muay Thai prices in Hanoi harder than it needs to be, and it is the main reason people put off starting for months.
So here are our actual numbers, the arithmetic behind them, and an honest view of which package suits who. Every figure below is what we charge at RHINO Thai Boxing Gym in Tay Ho, VAT included, with no joining fee and no hidden extras.
Short version: group classes run from 100,000₫ to 300,000₫ a session, and private one-on-one sessions from 420,000₫ to 700,000₫. The rest of this page explains what moves those numbers.
How Muay Thai Prices in Hanoi Are Structured
Muay Thai prices in Hanoi cover two different products, and mixing them up is where the confusion starts.
Group classes run at fixed times on a timetable. You train alongside other people with one coach leading the session. The cost per session is low because the coach’s time is shared.
Private sessions are one coach, one student, at a time you choose. You pay considerably more per session, and you get a programme built around your goals.
There is a third model worth knowing: paying per session versus committing to a block. Every gym discounts the block. The interesting question is by how much, and whether that discount is worth locking yourself in for.
Group Class Prices, Per Session
Our group classes run three sessions a week, which works out to twelve sessions a month. Groups are capped at six people, so nobody spends the hour waiting for a turn on the pads.
| Package | Price | Per session | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drop-in | 300,000₫ | 300,000₫ | — |
| 1 month | 2,000,000₫ | 166,700₫ | — |
| 3 months | 4,500,000₫ | 125,000₫ | 25% off list |
| 6 months | 7,200,000₫ | 100,000₫ | 40% off list |
The per-session column is the one that matters, and it is rarely shown. Going from drop-in to a six-month block takes the cost of a session from 300,000₫ down to 100,000₫. That is a third of the price for the same class with the same coach.

When a Monthly Pass Beats Paying Per Session
Here is the break-even, which no gym ever spells out.
A monthly pass costs 2,000,000₫. A drop-in costs 300,000₫. Divide one by the other and you get 6.67 sessions.
Train seven or more times in a month and the pass is already cheaper. Train six times or fewer and you are better off paying per session. If you know your schedule is unpredictable — travel, shift work, a job that eats evenings — drop-ins are not the expensive option people assume. They are the correct option.
The longer blocks follow the same logic with bigger numbers. Three months at 4,500,000₫ saves 1,500,000₫ against paying monthly three times over. Six months at 7,200,000₫ saves 4,800,000₫ against six monthly passes. Real money, but only if you actually turn up.
Want to try one class first?
A group drop-in is 300,000₫ with no commitment. Beginners welcome, and there is gear to borrow.
Private Muay Thai Training Cost, Package by Package
One-on-one training is a different product, not a premium version of the same one. You choose the discipline — Combat Fit, Traditional Muay Thai or Gym — and the programme is built around your goal, whether that is losing weight, adding muscle or learning to fight properly.
Private packages include nutrition guidance, your choice of coach, a flexible schedule, and stretching and light recovery at the end of every session.
| Package | Price | Was | Per session | Saving vs single |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 session | 700,000₫ | — | 700,000₫ | — |
| 5 sessions | 3,000,000₫ | 3,500,000₫ | 600,000₫ | 14% |
| 12 sessions | 6,600,000₫ | 8,400,000₫ | 550,000₫ | 21% |
| 24 sessions | 12,000,000₫ | 16,800,000₫ | 500,000₫ | 29% |
| 36 sessions | 17,280,000₫ | 25,200,000₫ | 480,000₫ | 31% |
| 56 sessions | 25,200,000₫ | 39,200,000₫ | 450,000₫ | 36% |
| 72 sessions | 30,240,000₫ | 50,400,000₫ | 420,000₫ | 40% |

Why the Per-Session Rate Drops 40%
The discount curve is deliberate. A coach planning a 72-session arc can build progression properly, and a student who has committed that far tends to show up. Both sides get more out of it, so the rate reflects that.
That said, we would rather you did not buy 72 sessions on your first visit. The honest advice is to start with a single session or a five-pack, find out whether you like the coach and the room, then commit. The discount will still be there in a month.
Why Muay Thai Prices in Hanoi Vary Between Gyms
Two gyms can quote the same monthly figure and deliver very different value. When you compare Muay Thai prices in Hanoi, these five things explain most of the gap.
Group size. A class capped at six is a different product from a class of twenty at the same price. Ask for the cap, not the average. The cap is what you get on a busy Monday evening.
Coach-to-student ratio during pad work. Holding pads is where technique gets corrected. If one coach covers twenty people, you might get two minutes of it in an hour.
What the price includes. Some quotes cover the class only, with facilities, showers or equipment charged separately. Ask what is bundled before comparing numbers.
Contract length and what happens if you stop. A cheap per-session rate attached to a twelve-month lock-in is not cheap if your circumstances change. Ask about freezing or transferring before you sign anything.
Location and realistic travel time. Covered below, because it costs more than people expect.
None of this means the cheapest gym is wrong. It means the per-session number alone tells you very little.
Group or Private: Which Actually Fits You
Compare the extremes and the gap is stark. The cheapest private session is 420,000₫. The cheapest group session is 100,000₫. Private is 4.2 times the cost per hour.
Notice also that a group drop-in at 300,000₫ costs less than any private session at any commitment level. If budget is the deciding factor, group classes win, and it is not close.
Choose group if you want fitness, structure, a room with other people in it, and the lowest cost per session. It is also the better first step if you are not yet sure Muay Thai is for you.
Choose private if you have a specific goal with a deadline, you are nervous about training in front of strangers, your schedule will not survive a fixed timetable, or you want technical corrections nobody else in the room is getting.
Plenty of our members do both: a monthly group pass for volume, plus occasional private sessions to fix something specific.
Muay Thai for Kids in Hanoi: The Kids Club
Children aged 8 to 15 train in a separate long-term programme, from 1,990,000₫ a month.
It is built as ongoing development rather than a short course. Members train regularly, track their progress and take part in activities aimed at fitness, confidence, discipline and teamwork. If you are looking at Muay Thai for kids in Hanoi as a one-month experiment, this is not that — it is designed to run across terms.
Three Realistic Monthly Budgets
Rather than quoting a single figure, here is what Muay Thai prices in Hanoi look like against three honest training habits.
Casual: around 900,000₫ a month
Three drop-in group classes a month, at 300,000₫ each. Suits an unpredictable schedule or a first month while you decide. You pay a premium per session for total flexibility, and that is a fair trade.
Committed: 1,200,000₫ to 2,000,000₫ a month
A group pass, training three times a week. At a six-month commitment this is 1,200,000₫ a month and works out to 100,000₫ a session — the lowest rate available. On a rolling monthly pass it is 2,000,000₫. Same training, and the only variable is how far ahead you are willing to commit.
Serious: 3,000,000₫ to 4,000,000₫ a month
A group pass for volume plus two private sessions a month for technical work. This is what members chasing a specific goal tend to settle into. It is roughly double the committed budget, and the private sessions are what accelerate technique rather than fitness.
For children, the Kids Club sits at 1,990,000₫ a month as its own programme.

The Costs Nobody Puts on the Price List
Three things people forget when they budget.
Gear. You will eventually want your own gloves and hand wraps. Borrowed gloves work for a first session and nobody expects you to arrive equipped, but shared gloves get damp and personal gloves fit better. Ask us what is available to borrow before you spend anything.
Time and travel. A session is an hour, but the round trip in Hanoi traffic can double that. Training at a gym you can reach easily is worth more than saving 50,000₫ a session somewhere across the city. That is the practical case for picking something local.
Sessions you do not use. The biggest hidden cost in any package is the block you bought and stopped attending. A six-month pass at 100,000₫ a session becomes 200,000₫ a session if you only attend half of it. The discount is real, but it is conditional on you.
Training at a Muay Thai Gym in Tay Ho: What the Price Includes
We run two locations, both in Tay Ho:
- Branch 1 — 87 Alley 50 Dang Thai Mai, Quang An
- Branch 2 — 23 Alley 52 To Ngoc Van
Tay Ho is Hanoi’s main expatriate district, which shapes who trains here. Our classes mix Vietnamese members, long-term expats and people passing through the city for a few weeks. Coaching happens in both Vietnamese and English.
Every price above covers coaching, use of the facilities and the class itself. Group sessions are booked online. Click any class on our schedule and pricing page and the team confirms within 24 hours.
Worth noting on comparisons: costs are not uniform across Vietnam. Published roundups of gyms in Ho Chi Minh City show a different market with different pass structures, so a price you read about Saigon will not map onto Hanoi.

What We Tell People Who Ask About Price First
When somebody opens with “how much is it”, the answer we give is usually a question back: how many times a week will you realistically train?
That single number decides everything. Twice a week means a monthly pass or drop-ins. Four times a week means a longer block is genuinely cheaper. Somebody training once a fortnight who buys six months has made the most expensive choice on the page, whatever the per-session figure says.
There is no package here that is good value if you do not use it, and no package that is poor value if you do.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Muay Thai class cost in Hanoi?
At our gym, a single group class is 300,000₫. Committing to a block brings it down to between 166,700₫ and 100,000₫ a session depending on length. Private one-on-one sessions run from 420,000₫ to 700,000₫ a session.
Are Muay Thai prices in Hanoi cheaper than in Thailand?
Per session, Hanoi is generally cheaper than a tourist-facing camp in Phuket or Chiang Mai, but the comparison is unfair in both directions. Thai camps sell multi-week residential blocks with two sessions a day. If you live here, a monthly pass at a local gym is far better value than any holiday package.
Can I try a class before paying for a package?
Yes. That is what the 300,000₫ drop-in is for. We would rather you tried one session than committed to six months on the strength of a website.
Do I need to buy equipment before my first class?
No. Come in training clothes and bring water. Ask about borrowing gloves and wraps for your first few sessions, and buy your own once you know you are staying.
Is private training worth 4 times the price of a group class?
It depends entirely on what you need. For general fitness, no — group classes deliver that at a quarter of the cost. For a specific goal on a deadline, a technical problem, or if training in front of a group makes you uncomfortable, then yes.
Are the prices the same at both Tay Ho branches?
Yes. The packages above apply at both Dang Thai Mai and To Ngoc Van.
