Drop-In Muay Thai in Hanoi: 2 Class Times, Honest Prices

Drop-In Muay Thai in Hanoi: 2 Class Times, Honest Prices

Drop-in Muay Thai in Hanoi costs 300,000₫ for a single session at RHINO, with no contract, no joining fee and nothing to sign. The useful part is not the price though, it is the timetable: the group class runs at exactly two times, and if you turn up at any other hour you will find an open gym but no class.

Those two times are 11:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, or 19:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Below is which one to pick if you have never trained, what happens when you walk in, and the honest arithmetic on when a drop-in beats buying a pass.

Drop-In Muay Thai in Hanoi Runs at Exactly Two Times

Most gym websites in this city publish a wall of a timetable and let you work it out. Ours has a simple shape once you see it, and nobody has written it down plainly. Anyone searching for drop-in Muay Thai in Hanoi is really searching for these six rows.

SlotDaysClass
11:00 – 12:00Tuesday, Thursday, SaturdayCombat Fit
19:00 – 20:00Monday, Wednesday, FridayCombat Fit

Six group sessions a week, arranged as two parallel three-session tracks. That is why the monthly pass is described as three sessions a week and twelve a month: you are expected to pick the late-morning track or the evening track and stay on it, not cherry-pick across both.

There is no group class on Sunday. The gym opens Sunday morning from 09:00 to 12:00, but that is open-gym time, not a coached session. Monday to Saturday the doors are open 09:00 to 21:00.

For somebody arriving cold, the 11:00 slot is usually the easier first session. A late-morning class is quieter than a 19:00 weekday class, when people arrive straight from work, so a newcomer gets a larger share of the coach’s attention. If you can only make evenings, Monday is a better first night than Friday.

What “Combat Fit” Means on the Timetable

Every slot on the Combat Fit class schedule above is the same programme, and it is the one you are joining as a drop-in. Groups are capped at six people, so a full class still leaves room for the coach to hold pads for each person rather than run a room of twenty through a routine.

RHINO also runs Traditional Muay Thai, Strength & Conditioning and Gym Training, but those appear as private and programme-based training rather than on the Combat Fit class schedule. If you want one of those as a single Muay Thai class, ask when you book instead of assuming.

What 300,000₫ Buys, and What It Does Not

Drop-in Muay Thai in Hanoi is 300,000₫ a session at RHINO, VAT included. That covers the coaching, the class and use of the facilities. There is no separate door charge and no membership to activate first.

What it does not buy is a discount. The per-session rate falls sharply the moment you commit to a block, which matters more than most people expect:

OptionPricePer session
Single session300,000₫300,000₫
1 month2,000,000₫166,700₫
3 months4,500,000₫125,000₫
6 months7,200,000₫100,000₫

Here is the break-even, which is the number worth carrying around. A monthly pass is 2,000,000₫ and a single session is 300,000₫. Divide one by the other and you get 6.67 sessions.

Train seven or more times in a month and the pass is already cheaper. Train six times or fewer and a single Muay Thai class each time is genuinely the better deal, not the lazy one. If you are in Hanoi for two weeks, or your work eats evenings unpredictably, drop-ins are the correct choice rather than the expensive one. Full package detail is on the Muay Thai prices in Hanoi page.

Booking a Single Muay Thai Class, or Just Turning Up

Both work, and they are genuinely different experiences.

Turn up. Arrive a bit before 11:00 or 19:00 on a class day. Someone on the floor will point you where to go and get you into the session. This is the honest answer to “do I need to book” — you do not, and nobody will turn you away for walking in.

Book first. Pick a slot on the schedule and pricing page and send the request. The team confirms within 24 hours. Booking a single Muay Thai class ahead is worth it if you are travelling and the day is fixed, because then you know the class is running before you cross the city.

Given the class caps at six, booking is the safer route on a Monday or Wednesday evening. On a Tuesday or Thursday at 11:00 you can reasonably just show up.

Want to train this week?

A single session is 300,000₫ with no contract. Turn up before 11:00 or 19:00 on a class day, or send a booking request and we confirm within 24 hours.

What to Bring, and What You Do Not Need

You need less than the internet suggests. Sports clothing you can move in, and plenty of water — Hanoi humidity is not gentle, and a 19:00 class in July is a different experience from the same class in January.

You do not need to be fit first, and you do not need to buy equipment before a first session. Our coaches introduce the group, then demonstrate every exercise step by step so that a complete beginner can follow, and drills get adjusted to individual ability rather than to whoever in the room is fastest.

  • Wear shorts or leggings and a t-shirt. Bare feet on the mats.
  • Bring water, and a towel if you sweat heavily.
  • Skip gloves, wraps and shin guards for a first visit.
  • Leave any expectation of sparring. That is not what a group class does on day one.

Training at a Muay Thai Class in Tay Ho: Finding the Place

We run two locations, both in Tay Ho:

  • Branch 1 — 87 Alley 50 Dang Thai Mai, Quang An
  • Branch 2 — 23 Alley 52 To Ngoc Van

A word on the addresses, because this is where visitors lose fifteen minutes. Hanoi alley numbering means “Alley 50 Dang Thai Mai” is a lane off Dang Thai Mai, not number 50 on it. Put the full string into a map before you set off, and allow more time than the distance suggests. A Muay Thai class in Tay Ho is convenient if you already live in the area and awkward if you are coming from the Old Quarter at 18:30.

Coaching runs in both Vietnamese and English, and the room usually mixes Vietnamese members with long-term residents and people passing through the city. Nobody in a Muay Thai class in Tay Ho will single you out for being new.

Who a Drop-In Suits, and Who It Does Not

Drop-ins suit three situations well. You are in Hanoi for a short stay and want one real session rather than a tourist activity. You are deciding between gyms and want to see the room before committing. Or your schedule genuinely cannot support a fixed three-times-a-week track.

They suit you badly in one situation: if you already know you will train twice a week for months. At that rate you will pass the 6.67-session break-even in the first fortnight and simply pay more for the same classes.

There is no package here that is good value if you do not use it, and no package that is poor value if you do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do a single Muay Thai class in Hanoi without a membership?

Yes. A single Muay Thai class is 300,000₫ at RHINO with no contract and no joining fee. Turn up before 11:00 or 19:00 on a class day, or send a booking request first.

Do I need to book a drop-in class in advance?

No, but it helps. Groups cap at six people, so an evening slot can fill. Booking through the schedule page means the team confirms within 24 hours and you know the session is running.

What is the Combat Fit class schedule?

The Combat Fit class schedule is 11:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and 19:00 to 20:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. There is no group class on Sunday.

Is a drop-in class suitable for a complete beginner?

Yes. Coaches demonstrate each exercise before the group tries it, and drills are adjusted to individual ability. Muay Thai uses fists, elbows, knees and shins, but a first class is closer to a technical fitness session than to anything you have watched on television.

Are the classes taught in English?

Coaching runs in Vietnamese and English at both Tay Ho branches. Mention it when you book if you would rather be coached in English.

How much water should I bring?

More than you think. A 19:00 class in Hanoi summer will take more out of you than the same session in winter, and the World Health Organization’s activity guidance assumes you can actually complete the session you started.

Train This Week

The simplest version of drop-in Muay Thai in Hanoi: pick 11:00 or 19:00 on a day that works, bring water, and turn up. It is 300,000₫ and there is nothing to sign.

If you would rather have it confirmed first, send a request from the schedule page or the contact page, or call 091 2000 979. The team replies within 24 hours.
